The High Level Meeting will be held in Athens on 3-4 June 2014 under the auspices of the Greek EU Presidency, the Greek Ministry of Health and the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and will address the subject of "Economic crisis and healthcare – ensuring access to public health services: the case of hepatitis B and C".
Even as therapeutical advances are becoming available, national policies taken under austerity programmes may not encourage the best public health outcomes. The Athens High-Level Meeting will examine national approaches, debate new developments and identify public policies to facilitate and improve access to care and treatment for hepatitis B and hepatitis C even in countries where austerity programmes are in place.
The Meeting will gather an audience representing national and international health associations as well as national scientists, clinicians and leaders of civil society.
The venue for the High Level Meeting is the President Hotel in Athens (www.president.gr).
